3–Year old children may enroll in our 

3 DAY AM (Mon/Tues/Thurs) morning program or our

3 DAY PM (Mon/Tues/Thurs) afternoon mixed–age program.

3 Year Olds

This class serves as an introduction to school with emphases on school skills, creative interactive play, learning centers, experiential art, stories, developmental language experiences, music, laughter, and fun.

Maximum enrollment: 24 children/4 teachers.

The 3 DAY AM program is designed for 3–year old children new to the preschool environment. As a 3–Year old, they will attend 3 DAY AM program the first year at Jean Lyle and are enrolled in our 5 DAY AM program the following year as a 4–Year old.

SCHEDULE: 3 DAY AM

 
9:00–9:30
   Gym, large muscle activity. Free choice. Various learning centers are available. The child may choose one or several of these on a given day.  
 
9:30–9:50
   Music, Rhymes and Stories.  
 
9:50–10:20
   Big Room & Sunshine Room. Free Choice. Interest Centers.  
 
10:20–10:40
   Room clean–up. Hand washing & Snack.  
 
10:40–11:00
   Book Look & Special Events time. Flannel board, puppet shows & music.  
 
11:00–11:15
   Gym. Free Choice. Outside Play.  
 
11:15–11:30
   Large muscle activity & dismissal.  

3 DAY PM
Mon/Tues/Thurs
12:45pm–3:15pm
3 & 4 Year Olds

This class is a unique program at Jean Lyle because it is a mixed–age class –and the only class that children can attend two years in a row. We provide a positive atmosphere for three and four year old children to encourage and develop respectful and caring peer interactions through work and play. Our curriculum emphasizes a balance of individual learning readiness that offers consistent practice with school tools in small group settings and the opportunity to explore choices in the Jean Lyle environment.

This class works especially well for children and families who do not want their children to be in school for 5 days per week before kindergarten, for children who are not early risers, and for families who like to have their mornings at home or free for other activities.

Parents that have sent their children to this program have commented:

•  By starting school in the afternoon it allows children a relaxed and calm approach to the school day.
•  Works well for parents who do not want their children in a five–day a week program.
•  Allows time to participate in other activities such as swimming, dance or other activities.
•  Tends to be a smaller class and some children appreciate a more quiet environment that helps them adjust to a school routine.
